BFGoodrich

Similar to many industrial facilities, BFGoodrich had various generations of data cabling within their facility. With each generation of cabling, the labeling scheme changed and some of the cabling was not labeled at all. “The communication infrastructure grew as the facility did” according to the Facility Network Analyst “without proper labeling and documentation, repairs to older cables would require pathways to be traced manually for confirmation”. BFG was looking for updated labeling and printed documentation for infrastructure for all locations in the offices and on the floor of the plant. GST created the sustainable electronic floor plans from the existing building as-builts. We created a database with the pertinent data for each network and technology cable infrastructure port. GST staff went to the existing Communications Rooms documented the existing labeling, then re-labeled all plant floor locations, and generated electronic files. The floor plans with each location notated were integrated with the database into a single electronic solution. BFG received fully manageable electronic solution and properly labeled faceplates for every old location.

Warsaw High School

GST was asked to provide Warsaw Community Schools with a solution that not only shows where all existing active Communication and Network Infrastructure is located, but also qualify each termination to verify capability for current and future use. The scope of work for this project was to document, test and label existing communications as well as existing network infrastructure equipment. GST equipped their IT Team with manageable electronic floor plans showing each data location in the facility and its corresponding troubleshooting information. We also provided rack elevation drawings for every Telecom Room in the High School to expedite the support staff during outages.

Taylor University

Taylor University requested that GST provide a solution that creates manageable electronic documentation for cabling infrastructure and rack elevation drawings from construction as-builts in CAD. The University also had a need for electronic documentation of buildings that did not have any existing as-builts for technology and buildings that have had many generations of building modifications. The University received fully manageable electronic floor plans so every addition, move, and change was documented. Troubleshooting can be quickly addressed when all the Network and Technology cabling Infrastructure ports are at the fingertips of the troubleshooter.  Sustainable processes and services were created in order for every building on the campus to be maintained in a simple concise uniform methodology. The technology staff now has the tools to update their systems without concerns that the cabling infrastructure is out of date.  GST staff  provided all the services required to discover, populate, and maintain the documents and electronic file for every facility on the Taylor University Campus.

Southwest Allen County Schools

GST was asked to provide Southwest Allen County Schools with a solution that not only finds where every existing active Communication and Network Infrastructure was located, show each system on different layers, and trace the patch cords in the racks in order to know what patch panel port is attached to which switch port.  SACS also requested electronic files detailing the rack elevations within each Telecom Room.  SACS received fully manageable electronic floor plans in order for each add, move, and change to be conveniently documented and troubleshooting expedited since all Communications and Network Infrastructure ports are at the fingertips of whoever needs the information.  We also included the switch port patched to its associated patch panel port within the documentation providing SACS with a complete infrastructure pathway from PC to wall plate to patch panel to switch port.  The technology staff now has the tools to update their systems without concerns that the network infrastructure is out of date.
